Trent’s Story
Trent was born with a pulmonary condition that required him to have heart surgery at an early age. Learn how EleCare helped Trent recover stronger than before.
Nutritionally complete, amino acid-based EleCare and EleCare Jr are helpful in the dietary management of the following conditions:
Malabsorption occurs when the small intestine cannot absorb enough protein, fat, carbohydrate, or other nutrients from a normal formula or diet to meet the body's needs. This can be due to an allergy to cow's milk or soy, or to other causes. Symptoms can include diarrhea and weight loss. EleCare and EleCare Jr can help with the dietary management of malabsorption because the protein source is 100% free amino acids, and 33% of the fat blend is medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), an easily digested and well-absorbed fat source.
Chronic diarrhea can be due to intolerance to milk- or soy-based formula. It can also be a symptom of enterocolitis (inflammation of the colon and small intestine). For some children, a doctor might recommend replacing milk or soy protein with an amino acid-based formula. Studies have shown amino acid-based EleCare and EleCare Jr can help with the dietary management of chronic diarrhea.1
Dietary protein enterocolitis can result when an infant or child experiences an immune response to protein. Symptoms may include diarrhea, vomiting, blood in the stool, and lack of weight gain. For some infants or children, the dietary management of these symptoms may include an amino acid-based formula such as EleCare or EleCare Jr. In a clinical study, infants fed EleCare for 42 days showed decreased symptoms associated with protein sensitive colitis.4
EleCare and EleCare Jr are specifically formulated to support growth and development. They are hypoallergenic, feature 100% free amino acids as the protein source and are clinically shown to be well tolerated in infants and children.2,3
