Olivia was born premature and suffered from necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). To help correct her potentially dangerous intestinal disorder, Olivia underwent surgery to remove the damaged sections of her intestine. As a result, she developed short bowel syndrome (SBS) and needed a gastrostomy tube (G-Tube).
Because of Olivia’s condition, she developed anemia and other nutritional deficiencies. We tried several infant formulas, but they only made her symptoms worse. When Olivia was 10 weeks old, our doctor recommended that we try EleCare. Honestly, we were a little skeptical but tried to remain positive. To our surprise, we noticed a major improvement!
Olivia has been on EleCare for two and a half years and she continues to amaze us. Recently, we began weaning Olivia off EleCare and started introducing solid foods to her diet. Needless to say, she’s enjoying every minute. Her favorite food? Ice cream, of course! Today, Olivia is almost 3 years old and spends her time dancing and playing ball with friends and family.
